Question: how do i know what is wrong with the car if i just bought a new battery

my last battery was shot so i bought a new one. now i dont even get a click, or lights inside or out. nothing the car is completely dead. they told me its the starter. so what can it be

check your battery cable ends. they could be dirty or corroded. Or did you put the battery in backwards. red lead is positive + and black is negative - you should have electrical somewhere.
