Question: I have 101,000 miles on a 1998 Escort Zx2 cool. I bought it new I have not replaced the timing belt

Should I replace timing belt with vehicle with 101,000 miles?

boy you like to flirt with danger don't you. If you are planning on keep the vehicle I would change it asap. You are on borrowed time and it will catch up

You should probably replace the water pump while you are at it.

I would replace it if you are mechically inclined. It only costs about $150 and takes about 2 1/2 hrs. It really is not a hard job. I was advised to wait and mine slipped at 130,000. The cost of the tow and the inconvenience makes it worth doing prior to failure. FYI - this is a non-interference engine.
